Client Overview

This humanitarian organization, located outside Cincinnati, delivers disaster relief and essential resources like food, water, shelter, and medicine to people in need—both globally and in local communities. Their workforce includes a mix of office staff, warehouse personnel, and truck drivers, creating a wide range of wellness needs. From field-based workers to administrative teams, every employee plays a vital role in supporting the mission—and that means investing in their health and well-being is a top priority.

The Challenge

Leaders recognized the importance of living their mission inward—caring for their people with the same compassion they show those they serve. Key wellness challenges included:

  • Physically demanding work that increased the risk of injury and chronic conditions
  • Inconsistent utilization of preventive care
  • Limited access to screenings and vaccines due to varied roles and schedules
  • A desire to improve health equity across all departments
  • A deep cultural commitment to care, dignity, and respect—now extended to internal wellness

Our Solution

WorkSpring partnered closely with the HR and leadership teams to create a wellness program rooted in accessibility, flexibility, and participation. The program included:

Key Components:

  • Onsite biometric screenings and vaccination events during work hours (open to employees and spouses)
  • A personal wellness consultant to assist with planning, tracking completions, and maximizing incentives
  • Monthly wellness toolkits to support health education and outreach
  • Participation tracking through the WorkSpring portal to simplify engagement
  • Flexible scheduling for shift-based and mobile employees
  • Direct leadership involvement to ensure every team had time and support to participate

Highlights

  • Leadership at every level—from directors to managers—actively promoted participation
  • Screenings were tailored to meet the needs of warehouse workers and truck drivers
  • Employees had access to information, preventive care, and wellness resources in a judgment-free, supportive environment
  • The organization reinforced a workplace culture where health, dignity, and service go hand-in-hand

The Results

In their first two years of the WorkSpring program, the organization achieved:

  • 86.7% participation in onsite biometric screenings
  • 84.4% participation in online health assessments
  • 55.5% of employees met 3 out of 5 NIH health metrics
  • 43.8% completion of preventive care exams in 2024
  • A noticeable increase in awareness, engagement, and confidence among employees across all roles

Why It Matters

Wellness isn't a perk—it's a reflection of workplace values. When leadership is visible, involved, and aligned with the program, employees feel safe, supported, and seen. By embedding wellness into everyday operations and culture, this organization has created a model that builds trust, promotes work-life balance, and strengthens the emotional fabric of the workplace.
