Client Overview

This 100% employee-owned holding company, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, operates in the Management and IT Consulting space. With a focus on "doing business for good," they partner with businesses that align with its values. The collective includes:

  • Technology and business consulting (Cincinnati, OH)
  • Custom software design and development (Pittsburgh, PA)
  • CRM business consulting and software development (Springboro, OH)

The organization employs 76 people, working in a hybrid environment with many Pittsburgh-based employees working fully remote. We partnered closely with their People Operations Manager and their CEO and Co-Founder.

The Challenge

Following previous success with the Humana Go365 program, they needed a smooth transition to a new wellness platform. They were particularly motivated by:

  • Rising insurance claims
  • Low preventive care engagement, with fewer than 50% of employees completing annual checkups

The leadership team sought a wellness solution that would continue momentum, address rising healthcare costs, and drive greater preventive care participation across the company.

Our Solution

WorkSpring designed and implemented a wellness strategy that prioritized continuity, clarity, and leadership alignment. Our approach included:

  • A robust implementation framework, with annual in-person and virtual planning meetings, and quarterly check-ins to stay on track
  • A multi-channel communication strategy using Slack and The Pulse newsletter to inform and engage employees consistently
  • Behavior-based incentives, including a $300 surcharge for employees who did not complete required wellness actions by the program deadline
  • Ongoing consultant support to keep participation high and ensure seamless coordination across office locations and remote teams

Highlights

Their success was largely fueled by a strong culture of leadership buy-in and transparency. Notable examples include:

  • Active executive participation – The CEO completes a biometric screening each year and attends annual wellness meetings to personally reinforce the importance of the program
  • Wellness embedded in culture – A dedicated monthly wellness committee helps sustain engagement through internal challenges and campaigns
  • Creative incentives – Raffles and gift card giveaways were used to spark excitement and reward participation
  • Holistic wellness messaging – They launched their “Total Wellbeing Wellness Wheel” to reinforce that wellness is a core part of who they are—not just a program

The Results

Within the first year, the outcomes spoke volumes:

  • 87.4% of employees completed the Health Assessment
  • 81% completed a Biometric Screening
  • 20% completed a Microlearning Course via the wellness portal
  • 15% used a wearable device or tracked activity manually
  • 42% self-reported they were ready to make changes to improve their weight—one of the organization’s highest risk factors

The strong participation and engagement have created a foundation for long-term employee well-being and healthcare cost reduction.
