The Great American Smokeout

By: Mandy Tegtmeyer, CWP, Wellness Consultant; The Employers’ Association

Quitting smoking isn’t easy. It takes time. And a plan. You don’t have to stop smoking in one day. Start with day one. Let the Great American Smokeout event on the third Thursday in November (November 21st, 2024) be your day to start your journey toward a smoke-free life!

You’ll be joining thousands of people nationwide in taking an important step toward a healthier life and reducing your cancer risk.

It’s never too late to quit using tobacco. No matter your age or how long you’ve been smoking, quitting improves some aspects of your health immediately and even more over the long term.

Did you know as an employer you can support your employees who smoke by offering tobacco cessation resources like the American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking® program? This 8-session program provides skills and support from a trained facilitator to help tobacco users conquer their addiction. Additionally, your organization can save an estimated $3,400 per year for every employee who quits smoking!

Could your organization benefit from hosing an onsite smoking cessation program? Contact us today at wellness@workspring.org to schedule Freedom From Smoking® at your workplace!
